Construction has some of the happiest workers

Although the industry faces a serious labor shortage as companies struggle to fill open employment opportunities, a recent revealed that nearly two-thirds of laborers in the construction industry are satisfied with their current jobs. They rated their job satisfaction between 8 and 10 on a 1 to 10 scale (with 10 being the happiest). Two-thirds of the respondents also said they would recommend their line of work to young trades workers.

The survey above is not the first to reveal that construction workers are happy with what they do despite the stigma associated with their job. An older report revealed that job satisfaction among construction workers rose 10 percent a year per year as more employers received high ratings.

Construction workers feel higher contentment with what they do compared to the rest of the American workforce across all industries. Those who work in construction find value in their career, and there are plenty of opportunities for career advancement. The rest of the workforce sees lower employee engagement and higher daily stress.

Additionally, the competitiveness of the present market guarantees that workers will be given higher pay rates and other work-related benefits for years to come.
